Mita is a 2024 Michelin restaurant serving Latin American, vegetable forward (vegan) food. The presentation was beautiful and the space was intimate and calming. We had three servers. One tending to drinks, the other to food and the last for removal of plates. Seating was at 8:00PM and we didn’t not complete the courses until 10:00 PM.

MOVIES
Hair Therapy crew got together to watch One of Them Days, the new comedy produced by Issa Rae. This light hearted film is like the girl version of Friday. I hosted a brief pre-movie party with a pink theme to represent both girls night and an early Galentine’s vibe. Snacks included the specialty Sweetheart Pop by Lesser Evil only available in February and pink only Starburst. Light flare included street tacos, with regular or Hawaiian soft shells.
The “Ride or Die” crew. The whether was inclimate and we did not let that stop us.
ADDITIONAL MOVIES:
Took some time out to watch smaller releases: Nickel Boys and Hard Truths.
Nickel Boys is tough to watch. It haas odd camera angles lots of horrific race based scenes. The school in the story is fiction and based on a real school. The Arthur G. Dozier School for Boys, also known as the Florida School for Boys, located in the town of Marianna in Northwest Florida where Black boys were mistreated and abused. The mass graves of 100 boys were later discovered.
Action packed Netflix movie with Jamie Foxx was an entertaining good Friday night at home movie.
The main character in this movie was miserable. The Caribbean accent and hairstyling in the film was partially relatable. The end has me looking on the internet for answers.
Den of Thieves 2 -Very long. I was on the edge of my seat for the heist itself and the car chase, The visuals were amazing. Script wise there were some unbelievable scenes and some script disconnect.
The Complete Unknown - I enjoyed the Bob Dylan movie. Specifically, how his behavior affected the women that he dated. it is long as well and without a profound love for the creation of music you may not make it.
Luther: Never Too Much - I listened to Luther Vandross growing up. From this documentary I learned about his impact on the music industry both studio albums and commercials.
The Color Purple: Hair and DIY MAKE-UP
To be yourself and still be accepted is top tier. I chose the color purple because I was thinking of royalty.
I wore my purple hair to a corporate event fearlessly. Knowing I am the example a person can be a bit eccentric and still have the capability to get the job done. Too often we look at insignificant factors and assume a person is incapable.
Do you know changing your hair from black to blonde means you are lifting it about 9 levels! That’s going pretty far to look different than how you were made. However, it is acceptable in the workplace as long as the skin is fair.
Some companies had policies that braids are not acceptable at all times. I wonder if Hooters upgraded their terms. Some companies forbid what they call unnatural color, green, red, blue, pink etc.
Both makeup and hair color have deep rooted meaning and go back hundreds of years.Ranging from social status to marital status. If you feel comfort and joy in elaborate styling it’s possibly connected to your ancestry. Don’t let anyone shame you over it. Find spaces where expression is allowed. I am grateful for the changes I have seen in recent years in the private and public sector regarding hairstyling. || Braids by @niahsstylestudio
